Before you get to know about our business, you need to meet the man behind the history of therapeutic cosmetics - Soonam Kim. Prior to establishing his own company, Mr. Kim was building his experience at a young age in Korea Cosmetics. He has always believed in the power of nature. He believed that the solutions to modern day skin complications could be found in nature.
This faith was an inheritance he received from his grandfather who was a dedicated herbalist and provided acupuncture, herbal remedy and folk remedy for civilians in a city where conventional medicine was not readily available. He grew up watching his grandfather healing people with lesions and sores by extracting herbal ingredients through boiling which had an amazing healing effect. This therapy was effective even on village animals such as cattle and dogs. When people were bitten by a snake, suffered a bruise and even a fracture, his grandfather was prepared with an arsenal of medicinal herbs to take care of the patient.
Mr. Kim discovered that his heritage and passion for creating cosmetics was not by chance, but by the passion and herbal knowledge carried through his ancestral heritage. Ancestral artifacts found in the burial site of his ancestors revealed ancient tools used for adornment and cosmetic applications. Items found in the tomb included plates, bowls and ceramic bottles designed for formulating essential beauty oil, fragrance and facial cosmetics. This discovery fueled Mr. Kim's desire to persue the creation of functional cosmetics by enhancing the healing properties of every product.
In the early 90s, Mr. Kim fell victim to eczema and became desperate to find a solution for a cure. He has contemplated suicide on many occasions, as he could no longer bare the sight of his skin and never ending sores which he had to constantly scrub vigorously despite the reoccuring blisters and blood. Through countless experimentation through formulation using herbal knowledge and experience acquired during his cosmetics formulation experience, the ATONA was created to treat his skin allergy and eczema conditions.
